Eligibility for part A
Most of the seniors (people who have crossed the age of 65) are eligible to take up the free medical hospital insurance covered under the part A of the Medicare policy in Wyoming. The person must be a citizen of the state or else a permanent resident of the state.
In addition to that there are certain clauses for the person to be eligible according to http://socialsecurity.gov such as:
If the insurance seeker does not comply with the above norms, he/she may avail the paid Medicare insurance by remitting the monthly premium regularly by signing up for the medicare during the open enrollment period. Although the full retirement age is not 65 years, you may sign for it three months in advance to your 65th birthday.
Before the age of 65, you may avail the hospital insurance if:
Eligibility for part B
All those who are availing the part A are eligible for the medical insurance covered under part B. Those who avail the part A for free may sign for the part B by paying a monthly premium. Those from the higher income groups may have to pay high premium. If you are not under the part A cover you may opt for the part B cover alone if you are older than 65 and if:
Eligibility for part C
People who are under cover for both parts A and B are eligible for Medicare advantage plan. If one is covered by this, one need not opt for the Medigap policy which provides the extra cover after the eligible hospitalization days covered by the hospital care are over as the benefits of the part C covers almost the same things covered in the Medigap.
It is to be observed that the part C is provided by the private players who are approved by the state. People who newly sign for the Medicare may sign for this too during the initial enrollment period as mentioned in the policy or else during the annual enrollment period (Oct 15th – Dec 7th ) and is eligible from the January 1st of the upcoming year.
Eligibility for part D
This covers the prescription drugs. Anyone who has cover for both parts A & B or else the advantage policy of part C cover is eligible for this. By signing up for this, one has to pay an extra monthly premium. If one falls under the higher income group, he/she has to pay a higher sum than normal.
Although it’s important to be covered by the parts A and B, it’s better that one opts for a part C cover, particularly if s/he lacks the Medigap and also for part D if he/her doesn’t has any other decent prescription drug cover policy.
