The state of the Wyoming encourages the medical practitioners to participate in the state’s Medicaid program. In order to ensure the safety of the clients, the state has put forth some norms for the registration of the clinicians.
The basic consideration of a practitioner is to be licensed by any recognized agency or else the board of the state. The state also considers the certified health professional bearing the license within the licensed limits. The state allows both physicians and also mid-level practitioners to participate in the program.
The medicaid Electronic health record incentive program (EHR) accepts applications from people interested and the first step is to register and attest the documents in Medicare and Medicaid program.
An eligible professional is defined as a:
The state also provides incentives to the practitioners in the name of WyMIPP i.e., Wyoming Medicaid incentive program for the practitioners who adopt to the EHR technology i.e., electronic health records to demonstrate, upgrade and enhance the use in the first year of the registration and for those who demonstrate in the later years.
This is not applicable for those who work in a hospital for more than 90% of the time or else for those who offer the behavioral solutions such as psychologists and psychiatrists. The applicants are expected to use EHR technologies certified by the office of the national health information technology coordinator.
In order to apply for that, one has to treat for a certain patient volume which is as follows:
The practitioners are checked for patient volume threshold for a continuous 90 days in the calendar year preceding the year of application. The professionals may be eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid EHR program but they have to apply for only one program. The Medicaid EHR program gives better benefits of the two.
However after one year of completion of the benefits, the practitioner may change the benefit program. Practitioners and healthcare providers must register on the CMS EHR program for receiving the benefits. Then the CMS replies through an email asking the candidate to initiate the attestation process.
